Della Rae Morrison
Early one morning in January, 1967 Della Rae Morrison came into the world, born in a small country town of Narrogin into one of the largest Aboriginal Nations in Australia, the Noongar nation. She is also from one of the biggest Aboriginal families in the Noongar Nation as her grandfather was one of 22 children.
Della Rae has been performing since the age of 9 years. There have been many lifetime accomplishments beginning with a 3 year on the job training touring with Jimmy Chi’s original cast of Bran Nue Dae in 1990, since then she has performed in several theatre productions, commercials and television series of Lockie Lennard as Mrs Egg.
She has toured Australia extensively with her 5 piece band Djiva, who have been WAMi nominees for Indigenous Band of the Year and winners for Song of the Year in the World and Folk Category. She won NAIDOC Artist of Year and NAIDOC Business of the Year in 2007.
In 2009 her business, the South West Aboriginal Entertainment launched The Chocolate Martini television series on National Indigenous Television which she co-Produced and is now being viewed by approximately 8 million viewers.
She will continue to pursue her music and acting career and is waiting very patiently for her big role on the big screen in a big feature film. And in her words Dreams Do Come True.
