Tim Minchin

Tim is a London-based comedian, actor and musician originally from Perth. His brilliance in combining biting satire with fine musicianship first came to the attention of comedy audiences in 2005 with his award-winning, critically acclaimed one man shows Dark Side and So Rock (2006). In 2008, his new show Ready For This? cemented his reputation as a unique, world-class talent selling out its debut season at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Television appearances include Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2); Comedy Cuts and Tickled Pink (ITV2); The World Stands Up and Edinburgh and Beyond (Paramount Comedy); Best of the Fest (ITV Scotland); Comedy Shuffle (BBC3); The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala (Network 10 Australia); The Sideshow and Spicks and Specks (ABC Australia); and The Secret Policeman’s Ball (Channel 4). He regularly features on UK radio. As an actor, Tim made his big-screen acting debut in the Australian film Two Fists One Heart (2009). His stage credits include the title roles in Amadeus (Perth Theatre Company) and Hamlet. He has composed and produced scores for theatre, musical theatre, documentary and film. His most recent credits include Two Fists One Heart and the award-winning ABC documentary The Kindness of Strangers (directed by Rhian Skirving). Tim has been awarded numerous accolades, including Best Alternative Comedy Act (HBO US Comedy Arts Festival 2007); Best Artiste, Best Show, Best Original Songs, (Green Room Awards (Cabaret) 2006); Nominee Most Outstanding Show (Barry Award - Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2006); Perrier Award Best Newcomer (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2005) and Festival Directors’ Choice Award (Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2005).
