The Removalists

When two sisters attend their local police station to report a domestic incident it sparks a chain of events which have devastating consequences. With his 23 years experience as a cop, Duty Sergeant Simmonds calls the shots in this 1971 classic that packs a mean punch. Using generational power play and laconic Australian humour, Simmonds changes forever the life of a young rookie Constable .... and those who sought his help.

With its pithy dialogue, set against a backdrop of sexual tension, corruption and gratuitous violence, The Removalists hits a raw nerve in its depiction of society and the true blue Aussie larrikin.

The Removalists sees the return to the Perth stage of multi-Logie and ARIA Award winner Jon English in the title role.

Providing a fitting finale to Perth Theatre Company’s 16 year residency at the Playhouse Theatre, this contemporary production of David Williamson’s iconic is not to be missed.

*Audio Description Service available

Audio Description Service captures the visual elements of theatre performances by describing the ‘unheard’ aspects that are essential to understanding a story line. This service brings entertainment to life for people who are blind or vision impaired whilst being unobtrusive to the user. Users of the service are given a small earpiece and receiver into which they hear a volunteer describe aspects of the set, costumes and action. The service commences 10 minutes prior to the start of the performance so that the set and other elements can be described or sections of the programme can be read to the patron.

It is essential patrons advise BOCS Ticketing that the audio described service will be required at time of booking. Tickets for the service can be purchased up to five working days prior to the performance, after which audio described seats which have not been sold will be released to the general public. Patrons are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the performance in order to collect their equipment and be comfortably seated until the audio description commences.
